Rakhbagh is centrally located in the city n is a beautiful public park n recreation spot for Ludhiana's children, youngsters n elderly people. I have very fond memories of childhood when we used to come here n ride the toy train which used to run on a diesel engine at that time. I still clearly remember the sound of that engine, the rhythmic sound coming from the track n also clearly remember the seating arrangements in that train. It used to be sponsored by a carbonated beverage brand "Gold Spot" which was popular amongst the kids n that was an added attraction to ride the Gold Spot Train. However due to modernisation n environmental concerns, the present train is an electric one n sorry to say the ride isn't comfortable at all. There are frequent jerks n one feels tired in it. The old one used to give the feel of riding in an actual train but the current is nowhere near the actual thing. However, this park provides much needed open n green space to fitness freaks, jiggers, walkers n general public seeking a few moments of solace n comfort. Currently the park is maintained by a renowned corporate house of ludhiana as part of their CSR initiative but instead of doing it themselves, they have outsourced it to a third party who has ruined the entire park for petty commercial gains. Green cover has drastically gone down n has been replaced by core commercial activities inside, including a big cafeteria for generating maximum revenue. This is a place where everyone comes to do exercises and morning walk in the early. People from the society without any restrictions on the basis of their caste and creed or standards are visitors of this beautiful park. It is situated besides the Government College for Girls in Ludhiana. Among general public, some politicians like councillor, Legislative Member of Assembly of Punjab State, Members of Political Parties who are in ruling and who are in opposition, are also used to come and do morning walks in the park. Everyone used to come and enjo the organized beautiful of plants and trees here. A good work on the beautification of park by planting big and small trees and busses can be seen and be enjoyed here. A peace of mind resides here. This is a best place for outing for children as there is a paid cycling spot, where from a cycle can be hired for an hour on minimal cost. Children can ride cycle on track already made for cycling and no need to go outside of this park. Moreover there is also eating spot and canteen but hygiene food is a big question here. When I visited last time no precautions used for COVID-19 PANDEMIC. Employees of canteen had not even a mask with them. Some of them were making food, but mask was not properly wear by them.
