OMG we were at the so called science center in Nellai. As a family outing we took our 3 yr old girl to spend some times there, not to explore science. Since i am from Salem, we occasionally visit Nellai and see some new places.

This trip gave a bitter experiance to us, ine of the securities as we were taking pictures caught as if he caught a thief. Infact there was no any indication in the entry that people are not allowed to take pictures (of course they kept some boards inside the premises). As i was no aware of it took some pics which I am posting as well. This poor guy came and talked rudely to me and provoked me anger. He wanted us to meet the officers to get permissions to take pictures in the campus, i don't find any national security issue which prevent them to take pictures in the campus. After huge arguments we left the premises immediately. The following are few advices to the people who manage the campus,

What is the reason taking pictures prohibited in the campus? Most people come to the campus not to explore science but to pass time and let their kids play around and take pictures If you have problem in taking pictures keep a sign board at the entrance saying taking pictures prohibited in the ticket counter (just as you mentioned the other warning in the wall) Remove those foolish watchmen or security who behave rudely to the tourists, they spoil your premises name and write review like this. As you speak this many rules on photography, make all models in the building to work properly, most of the equipments were either repair or not maintained well. Write the reason why photography is not allowed in the campus or inside the building. Since Mysure Maharaja Palace photography allowed we took tonnes of pictures a week ago. Finally i would have given 0⭐️ but no option...

One of the go to places in tirunelveli for small picnics. Cause tirunelveli main city doesn't have much places to relax in peace except science center and nellaiappar temple. Located in kokkirakulam, with ample parking space in front of the compound. Entry fee is 20rs per person. You have to pay separately for 3d show and planetarium show. Each 25rs. Old complex with lots and lots of models explaining physics, electronics and science related topics. Few sections in the beginning are well maintained. But otherwise the centre lacks good maintenance overall. The models in outside area looks aged and also the prehistoric dinosaur park looks like it's attacked by a cyclone. Better maintenance and one upgrade to latest technologies will definitely boost this place. Planetarium - it's the same since I went here in school days. The cushions were smelling so bad as if they haven't been washed in ages. However the show was good and short - 15mins. The 3d show was good. Although the seats don't move, the screening and effect was good. And the room was well maintained. Couldnt find anything to eat inside the complex so better visit there with snacks. Area is shady and filled with trees. So u can find lot of lovers there. Once you are out Only a sugarcane juice shop and a street vendor selling some oily snacks will be outside the complex.
