We invested in a Rs 100 ticket per person for darshan and it was truly worth it. I'm glad we kept our visit simple. On Sunday, since the CMC hospital was closed, we decided to visit the Mahalakshmi Temple. We took an auto for Rs 250 but negotiated a better fare of Rs 200 for the return trip. The temple complex is vast and impressive, with a beautiful walkway leading to the main temple. The scenery is dotted with preaching boards and greenery, offering a serene atmosphere. After reaching the main temple, the guard directs you according to your ticket class. The temple's grandeur is awe-inspiring, with its gold surroundings and pristine ponds. Devotees' offerings of coins, notes, and jewelry are a testament to their devotion. Due to security reasons, we prayed from outside the gate. After darshan, we explored the guided walkway, which features a cafeteria and souvenir shops. The clever design of the walkway leads you seamlessly into the shops. We ended our visit with a delicious prasadam of Upma and purchased some souvenirs.

Read moreVisited on 1st May 2025. Commercial place. As a foreigner, i realised the Golden Temple was beautiful and clean and well maintained. The Temple reception offered a prayers package for Rs1,000 per person. We brought 3 and was hosted by Thevagi. The main temple was about 2km from the main entrance. Upon reaching the main God location. I witnessed the Staff Supervisor Shathivel shouting like a thug to control the crowd. The crowd was not unruly. The prayers conducted by the priest was sub standard. All the staff were arrogant at the place of worship. Shouting to give directions. There was a woman at Golden Mahamletchi to pour holy water. The staff was extremely rude and shouting. All the staff shout at the top of their voice as master of the temple. Arrogance. This temple is commercial, and I did not find anything special in devotion. The Temple was beautiful, but peace was absent. The staff really need professional training to deal with devotees. The temple management needed to take drastic action on staff that was overzealous in handling their work. We wanted to see the Swamy in charge. I was told that unless I was willing to offer donations, I...
