चारबाग में रेलवे स्टेशन खम्मन पीर बाबा के 900 साल पुराने मजार शरीफ की तुलना में बहुत बाद में बनाया गया था। यह मंदिर सभी धर्मों के लोगों द्वारा पूजनीय है। बाबा खम्मन पीर सूफी संत थे। हर हफ्ते गुरुवार को, मजार में भक्तों की भीड़ उमड़ती है जो प्रार्थना करने आते हैं और कुछ भी कामना करते हैं और आशीर्वाद मांगते हैं। प्रत्येक गुरुवार को मंदिर और रेलवे स्टेशन के बाहर, आरक्षण भवन के पास और उसके पास प्लेटफार्म के प्रवेश द्वार के पास एक रंगीन मेला लगता है। संत को सम्मानित करने के लिए सालाना 4 दिवसीय उर्स या त्योहार भी मनाया जाता है। इसी परिसर में एक मदरसा है।

मैंने एक साल पहले गर्मियों की सुबह चारबाग रेलवे स्टेशन पर टिकट आरक्षण भवन का दौरा करते हुए मंदिर की खोज की थी। रेलवे पटरियों पर खम्मन पीर मजार जाने के लिए प्लेटफॉर्म में प्रवेश करने वाले सैकड़ों लोगों के लिए मिठाई, दुपट्टे, चादर, खिलौने और बांसुरी बेचने वाले उत्सव के स्टॉल थे। आप मंदिर तक तभी चल सकते हैं जब रेलगाड़ियां पटरियों पर नहीं गुजर रही हों। मंदिर तक पैदल चलना, रेल की पटरियों पर चलना, और लोगों को धन्यवाद के रूप में मंदिर के बाहर भोजन के उपहार वितरित करते देखना, जब इच्छाएं पूरी होती हैं और खुश परिवार फिर से मंदिर में आते हैं, रोमांचकारी होता है। इच्छा मांगना सरल प्रक्रिया है। ज्यादातर लोग अगरबत्ती की एक डोरी या प्लास्टिक का आवरण भी लेते हैं, और इसे परिसर में कहीं बांध देते हैं। अब इन डोरियों को बांधने के लिए आंगन में एक स्टैंड रखा गया है। जब मनोकामना पूरी हो जाती है तो व्यक्ति वापस लौट आता है और किसी एक तार को खोल देता है। इस यात्रा में आमतौर पर चादर, भोजन, या कुछ भी दान के लिए दिया जाता है।
