Read moreIf you can walk, we would suggest don't use a horse to reach Tiffin Top.. It's a low intensity beautiful hike of about 1.5 to 2 kms. The walking route is different than the horse route. We hired a bike and took the road uphill from Bara Pathar. one can also take the route from Naina Devi Temple. While descending we took this route and reached the Mall road.
There are two walking routes from Thandi Sadak (the cool road of Nainital) one is next to Ayar Jungle Camp and the other which is used by locals just about 1 kms ahead near Sherwood school area. We used this second one used by locals. The route is beautiful with lush green forests of pine, deodar and oak on the road and a small tea stall on route by Puja didi serving amazing Ginger tea.
Though the view from the top is amazing the infrastructure could be better developed. The viewing ring platform was broken and other options to stand were quite risky. Eating options are also very limited. I mean after a hike of 1 hour one get's hungry.
Nevertheless we had wonderful time and some beautiful pictures. Recommended to reach before 10 am as it gets hot in summers.
Also we would recommend to use the services of Photographer Mayank. He clicks photos using a DSLR camera and so the lake below is visible clearly and then transfers the pics on your phone. Currently he charges Rs.30 per...
