Shri Shyam Mandir, located near Dakshineswar’s Alam Bazar, is a serene and spiritual destination, just a short distance from the famous Dakshineswar Kali Temple. The temple can be reached by crossing Dakshineswar Circle and walking straight for about 7-8 minutes from Alam Bazar. The temple is aesthetically pleasing, constructed from white cement and marble, giving it a simple yet elegant appearance.
Inside the temple, three deities are worshipped: Lord Krishna and Radha, Lord Khatushyam, and Lord Hanuman. The calm environment and minimalistic exterior design are complemented by the stunning interior. The temple’s height is equivalent to a 3-4 storey building, and the ceiling is adorned with engravings depicting the story of Lord Krishna, adding to the spiritual ambiance.
Though the temple atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual, it is important to note that photography and videography are strictly prohibited, both inside and outside the temple. Violations are met with consequences. The temple offers daily Prasad, including rice or khichdi with vegetarian curry, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., following the morning Puja and Aarti. The temple attracts both devotees and locals who come for worship and to receive the Prasad.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart, as my recent visit to Shyam Mandir was marred by a series of deeply upsetting experiences. The atmosphere was far from the peaceful and welcoming environment one would expect from a place of worship.

Based on my experience, I would strongly suggest others not to visit Shyam Mandir. The lack of compassion and the overall negative atmosphere made the entire experience deeply unpleasant. It is a shame that such a sacred space is managed with such disregard for the well-being of its visitors,...
