This is one of the few tourist attractions in Ambon that is in relatively good condition. It is close to the town centre and easily accessible as there are traffic lights with pedestrian access close by. You still have to be careful crossing the road but once there you enter through a gate and a man will ask for a fee which is small by Western standards, he gives a receipt and you just walk around and take photos. The gong is lighted at night, which is great for photos, but that is about it. Nobody was there the first time I visited and only a couple were there the second time. The location is right in the center of the city across from Merdeka Field / Pattimura Park. You have to pay a levy to enter here (IDR 5.000). Unfortunately, there aren't any facilities for the money you pay other than having access to take pictures at the monument.
