Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja — Attraction in Bantul Regency

One of the biggest and most famous art studios in Yogyakarta. Named after a well-known artist, this place provides art spaces for artists from dancing, theatrical, musical and fine arts events. To go there, rely solely on Google maps since the place is located on the south part of ring road and inside a local neighborhood area. This property is very wide with several buildings and spaces. An open area before the river bridge is the parking lot with special spot for motor bikes. Then opposite the motorbike parking site are some buildings, small studios & offices. You will need to walk up the property to go to the pendhapa. A wheelchair access is available, too! But maybe you won't be able to enter some buildings. Beside the pendhapa is a building usually used for art exhibition (fine arts or even art installation). Behind it is a big theater building and beyond it is still part of the property used for teaching arts. Art exhibitions, events or performances are most often free. They have in house artists or educators that will guide you through. The workers there are also very welcoming and won't bother you. You can even hang out a bit on the property after your art viewing. Usually they have a monthly theatrical event for free. They have a small shop of merchandise as well.

Tips: Check their website and social medias to see their art events schedules. Sometimes they announce it just a week prior...
