Ayam Goreng Jawa Mbah Cemplung is a well-known eatery that attracts visitors with its reputation for serving traditional Javanese fried chicken. Located in a rustic setting, this spot has become a destination for those curious about authentic flavors. However, my visit here left me with mixed feelings, as certain aspects of the experience didn’t quite meet my expectations.
To be honest, the food itself was underwhelming. While the fried chicken was decent, I didn’t find anything particularly special about the taste that would set it apart from similar dishes at other restaurants. Considering the price, which I found to be on the higher side, the flavor didn’t justify the cost. In comparison to other places I’ve tried, the value for money felt lacking.
The dining environment also left much to be desired. The seating area was quite hot and uncomfortable, which detracted from the overall experience. On top of that, the presence of numerous flies made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. A better-maintained dining area would significantly improve the atmosphere and make the visit more enjoyable for customers.
In summary, Ayam Goreng Jawa Mbah Cemplung may appeal to those looking for a rustic and traditional dining experience, but for me, it fell short in both taste and comfort. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and value, this place could live up to its reputation, but as it stands, I’d likely explore other options for Javanese...
Read moreFamous fried chicken in Yogyakarta, we try this because our friend told us that this chicken was good. We order 2 pieces chicken breast with rice and some veggies, our friend already told us that their chicken was so big like 1 pieces breast can be eaten by 2 people. When our food come, we surprise that indeed their chicken was so big like half the chicken of Ayam Berkah in Jakarta. Eventhough the taste was not so tasteful compare to ayam berkah, but this one is quite good too and cheap with a big portion maybe because they used Pejantan not Kampung chicken so their chicken not so tastier than ayam berkah. They have sambal korek that is so good and so spicy for our taste, but this one is a plus for us, because our favourite ayam berkah doesnt has a good sambal to compliment their chicken. Overall is quite good food but we think its just enough to try this once. Price vs taste: 4/5 Spicy: very spicy Fav menu: their sambal korek Place: spacious dining area, limited...
Read moreThe chicken is marinated with spices and deep fried well, at the same time the sambal chilli enhance the chicken to another level. Super love it! Love the fried tofu and tempeh too! I’m super delighted to find the fried tofu here that reminds me a lot of stinky tofu without the stink. it’s crisp on the outside n oh so juicy on the inside, pair it with the chilli sambal and it’s perfect! we could not have enough of it and ordered a second portion. Love the tempeh here too, it’s fresh tempeh here without the usual aroma that we get at the supermarket. After so many days of eating in Yogyakarta, this is the most authentic meal i have! This is the sambal chilli that I am searching for 😍 . As this place is situated in the outskirts of the city and pretty rural area, highly recommend that you ask your driver to wait for u while u...
