First some positive things: The location of the guesthouse is great, you have some great views to the mountains and it’s really in the center of the tiny town, close to the starting point and close to restaurants and many little mini markets. There was free drinking water and the staff was quite nice, I asked for new towels and they gave them to me. I slept okay in the bed, not the most comfy, but you’ll be out all day so it doesn’t matter, as you’ll be tired. I did have hot water and it was totally fine to shower, other friends didn’t have hot shower and it was not fixed after asking, even though the guesthouse claims to follow through with changing the gas bottle. Wasn’t a big problem for us because our friend could shower in our bathroom.
Now the negative: The room I stayed in (bottom floor, second on the left) was dark, moldy and filthy. Not too much actual dirt, like I didn’t see hair or anything in the bed, the biggest problem was definitely the super high humidity in the room. Wet clothes didn’t dry within two days and clothes that weren’t wet before, were wet after being in the room for the whole day. That’s als why we had to ask for new towels because they didn’t dry within 24h. I read all the previous answers of the guesthouse, and I get it, that there can be difficult circumstances due to weather conditions, BUT there was no way in my room, the humidity produced by the shower to go anywhere. There needs to be a Ventilation system. I can also not understand how they say there is a 24h cleaning going on, no one cleaned our room during the day, not that we needed it but just to say. The room itself was moldy. You could see some mold at the ceiling and a lot of it at the bottom of the toilet. And it’s no surprise if you see the humidity in the room. Also the floor was wet when we arrived and didn’t dry within 2 days!!
I think it would be good to actually invest in this place, build in ventilation systems and give it a big renovation (I have no idea how they claim that it was renovated 4 years ago, could be true and it’s just back to being filthy in this time, but either way, it’s time to invest again)
I know the price is cheap, and you can definitely stay there for 2 nights and enjoy beautiful Bromo, it’s totally okay, but just to be sure not to have to high of...
Read moreThe only good thing to say is the location was near the Mount Bromo tour and staff were helpful during my short stay there however I would not recommend staying there again if doing the same tour, the rooms were very cold and while I don't expect there to be central heating here, some accommodation could be made for tourist coming in that are not used to this kind of cold weather.
The blankets in the bedroom were not clean as I could smell some odour coming from them. Although the place advertises hot water, the hot water does not really work. You have to make a special request as the hot water does not automatically turn on. You have to request them to turn it on for you
The staff tried their best to make the hot water run, however the water was just too cold even after the attempts by staff to make the water turn on, I could not take a shower because of this.
The staff may want to equip the rooms with special heaters because the rooms are not...
Read moreI unfortunately had to stay here as part of a tour. I don’t recommend it at all: no heating = unbearable at night, and while they provide a duvet I had to sleep with a beanie and neck warmer not to get sick! No hot water in my room (and it wasn’t fixed while I was there), but I was lucky to have water at all since another person didn’t have any water even in their bathroom. Unacceptable - I stayed in more remote places at this altitude in emerging countries and they managed to have heating and hot water! The bathroom gets completely flooded if you shower and never dries. Bring your own towel, what they give you is so flimsy it is useless. The staff is kind and the breakfast and dinner are acceptable. It is close to Bromo hike starting point, but I would stay farther and have a bit more comfort, since even from here you have to wake up in the middle of the night. Do yourself a favor and at least go somewhere with heating...
