Tengger Indah Bromo Homestay at Desa Wisata Bromo Mitra RedDoorz — Hotel in Java

The room is very bare bones. No soap, a towel is provided and the water is intermittently warm. I knew what I was paying for and didn't have high expectations.

The reason for such a low rating is that I had issues with the person who runs the place.

He was very pushy in renting me an old/ torn up jacket for 50k.

He constantly pestered me about questions he had when I was tired and told him I will let him soon once I can relax for a short period of time.

When I asked him questions about getting transport, he was no help at all. All he said is that I can extend my stay.

He offered a jeep tour for 500k. To rent a scooter is the same price (both are ridiculously expensive).

He seemed interested in making money and not helping out his guests. I stayed in other Homestays in indonesia and the rooms are basically the same, but the owners are friendly and try to be helpful which made my stay pleasant. This guy was unfriendly and this is by far the...

We stayed here as part of a package tour booked from Yogyakarta to Bromo/Ijen. Overall the place was nicer than I expected given the lackluster reviews of these tours, and their included accommodation, in general. The room was a bit chilly at night (no heat), and did not include any towels, although it had a private bathroom. The most inconvenient thing, though, was that there was no sink (we had to brush our teeth with the shower then spit it either at the drain on the floor or toilet), and also that water temperature from the shower was not adjustable, and it was scalding hot. Very simple hostel. You'll get one noisy hard mattress bed, one wall socket, one light, one combo shower/toilet and no sink. Warm water after five minutes flushing. Not perfect but more or less clean, Java style sense of hygiene... Don't touch anything and don't drink water even for wash your teeth. One padlock to lock the door. Superb view on the volcano with red lava at night. Male rulers a bit grumpy, females more friendly. Exaustless motorcycles around like everywhere in Asia.
