Having read all the negative reviews I knew what to look out for. But I can also spot fake reviews given by fake accounts. Unfortunately, it would appear this place may have been targeted by fake negative reviews for whatever reason.
However, points to consider is that we were here is December, somewhat of the off season, only about 4 of the rooms we're being used.
The rooms were really nice, parts slightly dated but overall really good. Good placed outlets and also had UK plugs in places which ofcourse suited us well but maybe not others.
There are 4 pools (2 lots of 2) which are clean and have great views.
So the view. This is what people come here for, along with the tour up the mountain. The view is just amazing. You can see the sea over the horizon all the way up across jungle and rice fields to the top of the mountain. Ofcourse being a mountain causes a lot of cloud coverage but was clear every morning we were there. It enables lovely sunsets and sunrises.
The staff were all very attentive, polite and conversational. I had read bad things about staff being mistreated and sexism shown. But maybe they hid that all from us. There weren't many guests so maybe this isn't representational. But all staff were joking with each other, chilled, seemed happy. We didn't see any arguments. The staff all did look quite young and not sure maybe the main manager was not around at the time of our stay.
The food was really good quality. The breakfasts were some of the best I've have in Indonesia, with a good range to pick from. The lunch and evening menu was very extensive. BUT, there was a lot on the menu that when asked for they didn't have. Small list of: yoghurt, anything with mozzarella, ginger ale, duck, 60% of the ice cream flavours, strawberries and tiger seasonal fruit (which we don't blame them for ofcourse). This took a significant wedge out of the menu unfortunately. Unsure if that was because it was off peak so didn't keep in or just hadn't had delivery maybe. But all stayes out for 4 days we visited. Price of food was probably about average compared to other places we've been in Indonesia.
Good value overall I'd say
As a side note, there is now barbed wire fencing surrounding the property which I am going to presume is to keep the monkeys off as reading previous reviews they were a nuisance. We saw one monkey during our stay and the staff were on it, trying to contain so guests didn't...
Read moreThis is my review of my experience staying at Rinjani Lodge Villa and Hotel, Senaru Lombok: The hotel locates at the edge of the cliff, with beautiful views of sunrise, forest, and Rinjani mountain. Its a walking distance to waterfalls, Senaru geopark, and traditional village. The staff and the hotel manager are polite, diligent, helpful, and friendly. Food is professionally cooked, displayed, and taste good. I stay in room 1 with a spacious and open toilet. Its a nice room with an artistic design. But, sometimes the toilet has a bad smell may be from the toilet drain system. However, I had an uncomfortable experience with the owner of the hotel: The hotel manager organized a 3 days/2 nights trip for me to Mount Rinjani. A guide and a porter were hired to accompany me on the trip. In the presentation of the plans for the trip, which took place at the reception, the hotel owner showed an arrogant and disrespectful behavior towards the three men by criticizing their plans in a very rude way in front of other staffs and guests. In addition, he tried to make me responsible for the welfare of my companions by saying "If you have a heart, use two carriers instead of one". This made me feel extremely uncomfortable as I had no prerequisite to have any opinion about this. I found this behavior unprofessional. Anyway, I had the best guide and porter who made sure I had a wonderful trip to Rinjani summit. They made the whole trip unforgettable. Thanks again to the staffs and the hotel manager who made my stay at Rinjani Lodge was a...
Read moreBeautiful setting and very comfortable rooms. Spectacular views to the east and the gorge where the waterfalls are (although you can’t see them from here, but you can see paddyfields), with spectacular views of Mount Rinjani particularly early morning before the cloud sets in. We booked a deluxe bungalow which was very spacious with partial outside bathroom, set in beautiful gardens with lots of viewing platforms (not particularly suitable for children given the low safety rails). TV and fridge in the room and coffee making facilities. The property has lovely infinity swimming pools (including one open to the public if you dine or drink at the lodge). Very friendly and helpful staff (which we have found all over Lombok) and very good local evening food, with beer available at eateries but also at some of the local stores. Breakfast was tasty, although note that coffee choice is either Nescafe or Lombok coffee, the latter being very strong! The lodge is very close to one of the entrances to the waterfalls and the walk down and up is not too strenuous. We did the panorama walk with the waterfalls with a local company called “Rinjani Women Adventure” who I would strongly recommend as they support the local community and ensuring females are in the workplace. Would definitely return to Rinjani Lodge if we...
