Kelingking Beach (often miswritten as Klinking Beach) is one of the most iconic and breathtaking destinations on Nusa Penida, a small island southeast of Bali, Indonesia. Known for its dramatic T-rex-shaped cliff formation, turquoise waters, and powdery white sand, Kelingking has become a must-visit spot for travelers and photographers alike. The bird’s-eye view from the top of the cliff is absolutely stunning, offering panoramic sights of the Indian Ocean and the steep, lush promontory below that leads to the beach.
Reaching the actual beach, however, is a challenge that’s not for everyone. The descent involves a steep, narrow, and somewhat risky hike down rough stairs made of uneven limestone and bamboo railings. It can take 30–45 minutes one way, and it’s not recommended for those with mobility issues or during rainy weather when the path becomes slippery. But for those who make it down, the reward is a secluded stretch of sand, massive waves, and the feeling of being in a completely untouched paradise.
Despite its beauty, Kelingking Beach is not ideal for swimming due to powerful currents and strong surf. Most visitors stay at the top viewpoint or hike down only partway. Facilities are limited—basic stalls, local food vendors, and a few warungs near the parking area—but the experience is more about natural wonder than luxury. Kelingking is often crowded by mid-morning, so arriving early or near sunset offers a more peaceful and...
Read moreOMG is all I can say to this site. This is where absolute grandure is presented before your eyes. How do you describe an epic land mass that meets the sea? Absolutely ore inspiring and magical is this site. The resident monkeys gives a playful and joyous outlook at this magnificent site. Sadly for me this site is the most perplexing as the most of the tourists were absolutely disgraceful by disregarding the local rules, traditions and customs for the peoples and the site. Most tourists fed the monkeys western foods and gave a monkey cocoa cola. They filmed this and laughed at the monkeys. These people would be so angry if anybody disrespected their customs and culture but have no issues going to beautiful sacred site and mocking it for their own enjoyment. On the flip side I loved being here and was taken back by the scale of this site. A Chinese Construction Company sees a magical location and want everyone to marvel at it by building the islands most spectacular builds. They are constructing a lift shaft on the north west cliff face from the beach for access to the elderly, disabled and impairment. I think this is marvellous as why wouldn't you see this vision. Some people are unable to take the epic stairs to the lookout. A true marvel and must see. Keep an opened mind to avoid disappointment as it felt like the sparkle had...
Read moreThis is a must have done thing. Go down to the beach, spent some hours (to catch your breath🥵), enjoy the beach, watch the waves thunder in, people almost drown and rehydrate. The trip down took me 3 times longer than the way up. Why? Well, it’s very busy with a lot of people on that narrow, steep, almost legal suicide path. Upcoming traffic has a tough trip, it’s hot and oh yes: real hot. Then the most funny thing of all: Lots of those people with major self-asteam issues in gala-dresses, fancy shoes or slippers, for the best instagram shot. That by itself self has a high entertainment factor. Important: on the beach there is a stand that sells cool beverages and rent out towels. Everything costs 50k, rather high price, but remember: you realy need to drink! And the people from that stand haul there drinks by foot by that same suicide path you just came down on👍💪. So don’t hassle the price, pay and live!😉 Enjoy...
