Monument Submarine or commonly abbreviated or called is “Monkasel”, located on the edge of Kali Mas, in downtown Surabaya. More precisely next to Plaza Surabaya that is in Jalan Pemuda No 39. This monument is actually a real submarine that is KRI Pasopati 410, one of the navy fleet of Republic of Indonesia made by Soviet Union in 1952 with type Whiskey Class. This ship had once played a role in the Aru Sea Battle of West Irian with the Netherlands. Monument Submarine was inaugurated on 27 June 1998, to commemorate the courage of the heroes of Indonesia, then the ship was brought to the ground. But to bring the submarine to the center of Surabaya is not easy, the submarine is cut into 16 parts and then taken to the Monument Submarine Submarine area and then re-assembled and made monuments.
