Atiq Square or Atigh Square or Kohneh Square or Old Square, in Persian:(میدان عتيق or میدان کهنه) was a focal point of the city of Isfahan for centuries. In the eleventh century when Isfahan was the capital of the Seljuk dynasty, it was the main square and the chief center of the business and social life of the city. It was an important central focus of the city until Naqsh-e Jahan Square was laid out in the 17th centenary. But even at that time, the Kohneh Square preserved its importance as the Centre of the city's minor activities. With the Jameh Mosque on the north, Qeysarieh Bazaar on the west, Harun Velayat Mausoleum and the Ali Mosque on the south, and the Seljuk palaces on the east, the Kohneh Square served as a prototype for majestic Naqsh-e Jahan Square that Shah Abbas I created in...

Atiq Square or Old Square, which is also known as Imam Ali Square. It is the name of a square located in the center of Isfahan city, which is created from the revival of Sabze Maidan (Midan Atiq or Old Square[1]) with the Jame Mosque, which consists of four main spaces, including the main square complex, the Jalokhan of the Jame Mosque, the set of underpasses and the parking lot, and the surrounding parts It is a square whose first phase, the underpasses, has been put into operation. [2] This square includes an underpass and multi-level parking along with a relatively trapezoidal flat structure that connects Isfahan Jame Mosque to Haruniyeh building on one side and school and caravanserai on the other side. It connects Kasegaran and Isfahan...

Imam Ali Square or Atigh square ,in English old square, used to be the heartbeat of Isfahan in the past. This square goes back to the 11th century, during the Seljuk dynasty it was main hub of the city. During the Safavid period, the importance of this area decreased and they moved the main centre of the city to Naqsh-e Jahan Square. It has lots of historical monuments around it, including a bazaar, Imam Mosque, Harun Vilayat, a madrasa and Bagh-e-Ghoushkhane Minaret (Ali Minar). Sultan Sinjar Mosque and Madrasa is beside the Imam Ali Square and famous Ali Minaret stands in one of it’s corners. A beautiful entrance was to the opposite the Sinjar Mosque and Madrasa and it was linked with Imam Baqir. It’s portico was adorne with colourful...

Imam Ali Square is one of the historical squares of Isfahan that has a unique architecture and design.Good to know the name of this square is often known as Sabzeh Maidan. In Sabzeh Maidan market, you can find and buy any equipment. There is a large home appliance market near this square, which is often crowded. In Sabzeh Maidan, you can visit and buy Isfahan souvenirs, such as Gaz and sweets. This square includes an underpass and a multi-storey parking with a relatively trapezoidal flat structure that connects the Isfahan Grand Mosque to the Haruniyeh building on the one hand, and the Kasegaran School and the Isfahan Grand Bazaar on the other.

The place was wonderful, and all the shop owners were friendly. It felt like a scene from an Aladdin or Sinbad story. However, I had an unfortunate experience. A female employee at one of the restaurants in the square (عتيق) behaved rudely and mockingly toward me when she heard me speaking Arabic and realized I was a foreigner. She smiled maliciously and mockingly and shook a can of soda, so when I opened it, it exploded on my clothes. The same thing happened to my sister. I hope she is disciplined so that these childish actions do not tarnish the reputation of such historic cities. A photo of the restaurant is attached.
