The Kerman Historical Bazaar, also known as the Grand Bazaar of Kerman, is one of Iran’s oldest and most important trading centers, with roots dating back to the Safavid period (16th–17th centuries). Stretching over 1,200 meters, it forms one of the longest and most continuous covered bazaars in Iran. This bustling commercial artery played a vital role in connecting Kerman to major trade routes linking the Persian Gulf, Central Asia, and India.
The bazaar is not a single structure but a series of interconnected caravanserais, arcades, mosques, bathhouses, and domed market halls. Each section was traditionally dedicated to a specific craft or product—such as textiles, copperware, spices, or carpets—creating a vibrant network of specialized trade. Its impressive architecture includes vaulted ceilings, decorative tilework, and complex brickwork that both beautify the space and regulate its temperature.
