This beautiful 78 acre estate and historic house is well worth a visit. Built by Edward, the great great grandson of Arthur Guinness in 1882, the house is beautifully maintained and welcomes visitors by providing a detailed and most interesting tour showing the wonderful furnishings and artworks that the Guinness family left to the Irish State. In addition, the house has a fantastic selection of rare books and manuscripts housed in a delightful library. As well as a visit to the house, I advise a minimum of an hour exploring the gardens, lake and seeing the rare breed of cattle - the Kerry Blues. The government bought it in June 1999 to provide accommodation for high-level meetings and visiting guests of the nation . It is a perfect place to have picnic or just a cup of tea and enjoy the garden and all green. They have horses there. There is a beautiful cafe , you can grab a cup of tea and enjoy.. Used to have a farmers market on Sundays. Public visits with a friendly guide are available for free. You can spend more then a hours there. A lot off to see. Read moreBored of the same old same old in Phoenix park. Well head on over to Farmleigh Park. Great space for bringing kids and adults of all ages. Lots of parking. And a wonderful walk about a nice sized mini lake adds to the fantastic walk about the grounds. Take a relaxed stroll and end it off at the tea house called the boathouse. They served ice creams coffere team and some meals. Great place to bring a book or laptop and just chill. Lots of place to see some horses and cows grazing in the fields. My favourite was the view of the water on the opposite side from the boathouse. Don't miss out on the forest walk as well. Alocate about 3 hours to Really relax and enjoy the space.
