Mindblowing! What an experience. Weather was fine - wind low - seas fair - we were very lucky on the day. 40 minute trip out from Port Magee with Brendan Casey Tours- lovely crew - very informative and chatty. Nice prelanding tour around little Skellig & Skellig Michael, pointing out wildlife & history of Skellig Michael Monks & habitation. Easy 10 minute walk from pier to briefing area. 1st part of stairway climb is tough - we set off too quickly - another visitor slowed us down & then it was much easier. Middle section meanders - not so steep & then a steepish climb to "saddle" (resting spot before last steep section). Plenty to look at on way up & down as Puffins everywhere & very tame - lovely. Monastery in sight on level from end of last steep stairs - the start of this stairway on the way down was the trickiest but you can lean against the wall. The Monastery itself is Mind-blowing! Built over 1600 years ago - 750 - 800 ft above sea level - incredible. Very serene place. Very informative guides - both at bottom before the climb & in The Monastery. You will need a certain level of fitness - & good knees - but at 61 years old & 107 kgs & with a chest infection on the day, I still made it up in 35 minutes. Views on top are dramatic - down to waiting boats and over the Little Skellig & along the coast. Other stairways can also be seen but are too dangerous for public access. Spent c 45 minutes at top and descended in 20 mins. €140 each seems steep enough but it's a once in a lifetime experience & well worth it. Trip back to Port Magee took 35 mins. A very special place that will live long...

Our Skellig Michael Landing Tour aboard the Celtic Victor was the absolute highlight of our 2 weeks in Ireland. One of our Airbnb hosts, a lifetime Dingle resident, told us that the experience of exploring Skellig Michael was the true definition of the word "amazing," and he wasn't wrong. Our caption was fantastic, he took us around some other islands prior to our landing to give us history and context about the region. He prepped us well for our time on the island and his enthusiasm was infectious.

We were so fortunate that at the time of our landing the island was inundated with approximately 8,000 puffins, making the experience even more magical. The stairs up to the monastery are NO JOKE! We were given 3-4 minute safety talk before we started the ascent and I took the words of caution seriously. The stairs are steep, there are no railings, and at times there are steep drop-offs on either side of you. It took me 2 attempts to get up as my nerves and fear of heights had me crying after 50 steps. I eventually willed myself to go to the top and am so glad I did! It truly was a once in a lifetime experience that we'll never forget.

As if the island wasn't amazing enough, on the way back to port we say a pod of 3 Fin whales! Our captain was just as excited as we were and he tracked them for about 30 minutes, giving us up close and personal sightings of them and the dolphins that were accompanying them. AMAZING!

Suggestion: Take the pair of seasick-prevention glasses offered to you at the start of the tour. The boat really rocks and someone on our tour was sick on both...

I went on a landing tour yesterday with Casey's Skellig Michael Tours. We were met at the marina in Portmagee by Brendan and Pat. We were given a safety talk and put very much at ease. We left at 08:30am sharp. The boat trip took 50 minutes approximately and Brendan put up a tarpaulin to protect us all from water spray, as well as handing out waterproof clothing. Brendan was on hand at all times during the crossing to point out places of interest and was very informative also both Pat and Brendan were very helpful to anybody that might feel sea sick during the crossing. On landing at The Great Skellig both Pat & Brendan secured the boat to the landing berth before helping all safely from the boat to the island again at no stage did anyone feel anything other than safe due to both lads experience. The landing tour was spectacular and without doubt a brilliant experience. The island is outstanding in its beauty. On departing again everyone was helped safely onto the boat from the island and we were taken around the Little Skellig to view it. The crew of Casey's Skellig Michael Tours allowed plenty of time for photos and never rushed anybody. We arrived safely back into Portmagee and everyone was taken care of while we disembarked the boat. A Great Day. My thanks to Casey's Skellig Michael Tours and to Pat and Brendan I would 100% recommend Casey's Skellig Michael...

These guys are fantastic! Our shippers were very relaxed and enthusiastic. We had the luck of a mirror sea so they could drive us in places you can usually not come due to the weather, very nice!

Where to even begin... We took a boat tour (no landing, landing tour was unfortunately booked out when we checked two weeks before our tour date). The skipper was great, he was calm, nice, and took pictures for everyone when we got close to Skellig Michael. The boat ride itself was pretty brutal though. We started off in gentle waters, but once we made it out from between the islands into open water, the waves were huge! Many waves were much taller than our boat. We also got a ton of splash (definitely recommend wearing a rainjacket, although our skipper also handed out big raincoats) which was kind of fun at first, but became rather miserable later on once the novelty wore off. The entire round trip took around 2 hours. Once we got to the Skellig Islands, the waters were no longer terrifyingly high, and we stopped there as our skipper introduced us to the islands and people took photos. It was cool to learn more about the islands, but because we were stopped, the boat rocked back and forth, and I became badly nauseous. I was handed a vomit bag which I clutched for the remainder of the boat ride. To be fair though, I think I was the only person on our boat of ~10 who got seasick. All in all, definitely one of the most memorable moments from our Ireland trip, but if you are prone to seasickness (as I learned I was), be prepared to suffer.
