What an unexpected delight this was! Our trip to Skellig Michael was sadly cancelled due to bad weather. But we made the best of it by enjoying a little more of what Portmagee had to offer
which isn’t a whole lot quantity-wise (it’s a very small & seasonal fishing village), but wow the quality we got out of our visit to the Kerry Cliffs (amazing views) and a visit at Portmagee Whisky made our journey down to this south point of Ireland very worth it! Seamus was exceptional in his knowledge of overall distillation, whisky tasting, and the product itself. We did a tasting experience with Seamus and it was a highlight to our day! Very enjoyable to listen to with many fun stories to tell. We walked away with a bottle of their 9 year
most excellent Irish whisky! There is a small store front/tasting room in a container-like building. And they also have the dome on-site for other tours/experiences. To say this is not a big operation is an understatement. Rather, visiting Portmagee Whisky is more of a cozy intimate experience. This is a newer distillery, with future plans to implement environment-friendly practices. Wish them all the best in...

John ,his Mom and cousins helping out were lovely. Animation on the North Pole is a little different to the Seine boat projection( that's on the Whiskey tours). Also met another of their cousins who I let contact drift with so that made me happy. She was there with her husband and 3 children. The distillery shop open. Went in after Santa - who was lovely. Gave my 19 year old a gift bag too. There was face painting and drawing in first dome we could have circled back to. A snowy display with little tractors etc. The smallies found it had to look not touch. 3 year old also very interested in trailer in their own yard and goats in the field. We would have stayed a little bit longer but driver wanted to move on. Got to sample whiskeys in the shop and bought a bottle. My 3 year old liked it,didn't have far to travel or wait. Can't comment re olders kids. 19 year old liked seeing toddlers reaction, she probably would have liked if there's was a market to look around. The gift bag had a picture to colour and enter into a competition, some chocolates, colouring pencils,a windchime/ Christmas decoration to colour and hang...

Portmagee whiskey is truly special. The owner’s deep-rooted connection to this land, nurtured over five generations, infuses every bottle with a story of heritage and dedication. James “Barrack” Murphy doesn’t just craft whiskey; he crafts a legacy that honors the traditions of his family while embracing the future. His commitment to sourcing ingredients locally and collaborating with community members not only enhances the quality of the whiskey but surely fosters a sense of pride among the residents.

This whiskey is more than just a drink; it embodies a vision of sustainability and community spirit. James is dedicated to ensuring that Portmagee is the next vibrant tourist destination many have yet to discover. Whether you're sipping a glass or taking part in the tasting tour, you’re participating in something greater—a movement that celebrates the land, its people, and the remarkable journey of Portmagee whiskey. If you’re looking for a unique experience that combines flavor, history, and community, this is it! I for one will look forward to the day when Portmagee Whiskey is available to enjoy across the...

We went to the "exhibition" on the recommendation of our lodge landlord. and we were so surprised at what the Murphy brothers have created, and had a great stay. We booked the "360 Immersive Experience" tour. James, mega friendly, personally guided us through the tour and told us everything about the history of the family and the place Portmagee and the Seine boats and what else is planned for the future. For example, a distillery is to be built on the site. At the end we went to the 360 cinema, with a surprise and required muscle power. We had a great time and at the end we were allowed to test the 3 Wihskeys that are produced. The visit is definitely worthwhile and is still an insider tip. Especially since the Murphy brothers dare to set up such a company at this time and thus present their country. Thank you very much for this experience. I also took a whiskey with me, but you can try it for yourself during the visit!

After 17 years, Ireland can still surprise and enchant a man, this year i decided to spend my holidays in county Kerry, and since i am a lover of strong drinks, during my travels i visited a local distillery where extremely tasty whiskey is produced. Shamus knows everything about his product, about the history of Irish whiskey, the local roots of this drink as well as about the name itself, he told in an amazing and interesting way, until you wanted to try it, of course it happened a few minutes later. PORTMAGEE whiskey in the town of Portmagee a must-see place when visiting county Kerry. Together wit Shamus, during our log discussion, we found solution to lowering carbon footprint in Ireland ''Lets make more whiskey''. The distillery is only a few minutes from the Kerry cliffs, first tasting lovely whiskey then admiring the views.
