Excellent tour, taking us out and returning us back safely from a rather dicey sea voyage to get to the Rock. Skellig, from Gaelic Irish, means Steep Rock. That fits Skellig Michael precisely. The ocean swell at the tight landing site on the island was about 15 feet on the day of our trip. The boat captain was skilled to maneuver that boat safely…twice. John and Lisa at the Skellig Experience Visitor Centre were outstanding in communicating with us regarding the forecast, and whether or not the boats would be able to dock that day. Thankfully for us, the weather was great, and the visit to that Unesco 1,500 year old early Christian Monks’ sanctuary was unforgettable. The hike up to the top was not near as arduous as I thought it would be after reading about it. Half Dome is way more difficult. And they make a point about the absence of hand rails, the uneven steps, etc. but most of the sides of the rock are not straight down towards certain death. There are slopes. But don’t fall. Duh! I took hiking poles, which for me only add to the ease of maintaining balance during the hike up, and down. Some argue against them. I’m a fan. All in all, a wonderful day well spent, with memories that will last a lifetime, or until my memories fade…🙈. Either way, I’d...

Our boat ride was postponed first because of bad weather which is understandable but then in 1 day it was postponed twice. One of the time when we arrived they told us that we will be leaving an hour later because the skipper decided that. So we literally changed our plans to go here and then found out we could have managed to do the other things planned.

After this the worst came to happen when we went on the boat geared up with life jacket and the boat already moving the tour guide told us that we will not be going to skellig islands but will be doing another tour instead which she said will be much better. Definitely was not as our main reason for going was to see the puffins which obviously we did not see.

When we arrived back and went to complain with the reception they told us that the skipper did not tell them anything and it is not their fault. How can it not be their fault? I know the skipper is not their employee but still we paid through them so they are responsible. After alot of arguments they gave us half the money back which obviously not as they said on the website that if the tour is cancelled we will be fully refunded. This...

Booked a landing tour months in advance. Instructions stated to arrive 45 mins before the tour time. We get there at 845 as instructed, gate to the parking lot is closed and no one is there. We open the gate and park. Sit outside waiting for about 20 minutes, another group arrives and we’re all sitting outside waiting then we receive an email saying the tour is cancelled because of the weather. Cancelling is understandable, that is clear when you book, but the service was awful! No one there to open the gate and greet you when you show up at the time they tell you. The least they could have done is show up and tell you about the cancellation in person. No information about a refund or any alternative tours was provided. Just an email saying it was cancelled and nothing else. No customer service whatsoever. There are other options for Skellig Michael tours - use one of those. This was disappointing and totally...

You do the experience learning about the history before the boat journey. Worth knowing that the crossings are dependent on sea conditions. We booked a sailing in January 2023 for June. There is a cap on visitor numbers in the season. On the day we sailed the journey took around 90 mins and it was choppy. They give out special glasses for people prone to sickness which seemed to work. Lots of safety warnings for the walk up the island. Lots of volunteer guides and the climb to the top isn’t a doddle. If you are older or overweight or physically compromised people do give you space and told to let everyone go at their own pace. But the climb is so worth it. Amazing views across the Atlantic, ancient history with the monks beehive chambers on top, lots of puffins and Star Wars fans go because it was a location in one of the movies. So you get visitors climbing in their costumes. Worth doing.

Visite de l'île Skelling Michael à faire. Un peu cher mais ça le vaut. Site unique, impressionnant. Bien prendre en compte les mesures de sécurité. Bateau bien adapté : bien abrité et bonne visibilité et au retour tour complet des deux îles puis visite des phoques.

My wife, baby & myself had a fantastic experience at the Visitor Centre. A great source of knowledge and history of the stunning Skellig Islands and in particular the monastic settlements on Skellig Michael. There's even a set of old entry gates that were damaged by a storm and were recovered by divers at the entrance to the tour. Lots of photos and structures recreated that gives you a very personal and unique experience of this UNESCO heritage site. The restaurant serves absolutely delicious food, highly recommended. The staff are terrific and very helpful and help make the whole experience even more memorable. Remember; you can also book the fantastic boat tour around these iconic islands or land on Skellig Michael. Well worth it!
