Today the 3rd of October both myself and my daughter decided to do the 5km walk in Tymon park as it is supposed to be sign posted so there's like a starting point and a finishing 5km point. However without a shadow of a doubt this has got to be the worst signposting ever. I do not know how many forks in the path we came upon that were not sign posted , needless to say we had no idea which path to take. Every now and again we came across a very well-worn path marking but without knowing had we taken the right path it was hard to know if we were coming to the finishing point or if we were doubling back on ourselves. In addition to this we were also faced with several path closures due to work being carried out in the park. This was funny in the begining but then began to become very frustrating as we wanted to go home and were unable to find our way back to the Tallaght side of the park. Eventually a very kind woman out walking her dog showed us the way to one of the bridges over the M50 bringing us back to the basket ball arena . Okay lads so here's the deal, Tymon park is a very beautiful park with so much to see in it, some amazing wildlife, plants , birds etc. Also quite a lot of exercising equipment. It is indeed a very beautiful park but lads listen please do something about signposting or mapping / marking out the paths for those of us who want to walk a few km in...
Read moreI had the pleasure of seeing Neil Young and Bob Dylan here last month. It was probably one of the worst run gigs I've ever been to. A lot of the mess wasn't the fault of the venue itself. For example the signage directing traffic and pedestrians was terrible and some signs contradicted others. We queued up for close to 30 minutes at the wrong entrance due to incorrect signage. Hundreds more got caught out by the same thing so I didn't feel so bad.
Once inside things didn't really improve. There were plenty of places to get food, drink and tour merchandise. The card payment system crashed for the entire venue at one stage. Once admitted to the park you couldn't leave and re enter. This left many of the younger generation, who don't believe in cash, unable to purchase anything. Not even a bottle of water on the hottest day of the year! There weren't enough toilets either.
The gig itself was brilliant and the sound was very good quality. I still gave four stars because I think it is actually a very good sports venue. It's the organisation that I have a...
Read moreGreat park well kept. 77a going to Tallaght stops right in front of the park where the big playground with the zipline and the fairy wood is. The fairy wood is well worth a trip with your kids its so sweet my daughter loves it. The M50 separates the park so if you go over any of the bridges from Tymon you come to where St Judes is (near Orwell/Limekiln) with another smaller playground, a forest to explore and another pond with ducks and swans. You can access THIS playground by bus using the 150 going to Rossmore which stops outside as does the 54a going to Tallaght. Both entrances have car parks if you drive and bottle banks which are always busy. The walks are well worth it anywhere we have been in the park. The exercise machines are a bit of fun and there are plenty of seats and picnic benches spread out for a rest. Spent four hours here today with my daughter, great resource for the area winter as...
