The Ardmore Round Tower is a historic landmark located in the seaside town of Ardmore in Waterford, Ireland. Although visitors are not allowed to climb the tower, there is still plenty to see and explore at this site. The tower is believed to have been built in the 12th century and stands at an impressive 97 feet tall.

One of the most interesting aspects of the tower is its construction. It is made from local sandstone, with each block carefully placed on top of the other without the use of mortar. The tower is also home to an impressive set of bells, which would have been used to call the monks to prayer.

In addition to the tower itself, there are several other historic sites to explore in Ardmore. These include the ruins of a 12th-century cathedral, a 9th-century round tower, and a 13th-century church. The town also has a beautiful beach and plenty of local cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

Overall, the Ardmore Round Tower is a great day trip destination for families with kids. While climbing the tower may not be possible, there is still plenty of history and culture to explore in this charming...

Beautiful Round Tower close to the Ardmore coast dating back to the 10-12th Century. This 100 ft tower has a base only 15 ft wide. Adjacent to the tower is St Declan’s monastery dating back to the 5th Century. Really worth a visit it is also the starting point for a ramble across the Cliffs of Ardmore with outstanding beauty overlooking the Irish Coast. The walk is less than 5k and also next to Ardmore beach. ...

Beautiful round Tower (which is surely one of the best in Ireland) and associated church buildings dating from the 12th. century situated on a hill overlooking Ardmore Bay. Very well tended site with gravestones dating from the mid 18th. century ( there are older ones but they are too eroded to be legible). An easy 5 or 10 minute walk from the village. Parking nearby...
