Read moreIt's a lovely place, very well maintained garden and beautiful flowers, plants, etc. However, it's very expensive for my liking nearly €40 for 3 adults and 1 child and nothing good that I could find for a 6 year old boy to do. He was very bored. We also got food as you're not allowed to have a picnic onsite, my mam paid nearly €30 for lunch which was only 1 tea, quiche, baked potato, sandwich and orange juice (the food was very nice and my aunt got herself some cakes to bring back, she paid for that separately). So basically before we'd even been to see the garden, €70 has already been spent and depending on where you're driving from there is the petrol cost and toll payment too. Unfortunately due to these factors, I can say, I don't think I will be going back there...

The garden guide included descriptions of 87 of the 5000 species of trees, shrubs and plants in the gardens. What a super way to help us enjoy and learn while we meandered through the gardens! The views, the colours, the scents, the shapes were a treat. The river Vartry curves and meanders through the gardens.
