Passetto — Attraction in Ancona

I'll be honest, we planned to go to Mezzavelle beach (known as one of the top beaches in the area) so being told when we turned up there that you had to book and it was all sold out that day was a major disappointment having driven for an hour and a quarter with 3 small children!), BUT in the end, having this beach recommended as an alternative was brilliant! You get a lift down to the beach (an event in itself - but note you need coins for the ticket machine - €1 each return ticket for ages 6+) and then it's a weird (and fairly small) concrete and pebble beach but don't let that put you off! The water is so clear and our two boys (5 and 7, both pretty confident swimmers) loved just swimming out with one of us and looking at all of the amazing fish in the water. We had shoals of little fish swimming past us, saw a big jellyfish or two, crabs, bigger more colorful fish and other fish feeding on the seabed. It was a real experience which we probably wouldn't have got at a bigger, busier, sandy beach as the pebbley seabed. Take water shoes if you have them, and definitely goggles or masks. And if you have them, nets and buckets, as a fair few of the Italian children were enjoying catching little fish and crabs in buckets and watching them swim around before releasing them. There were toilets (not very pleasant but at least they were there), and a cafe/ice cream shop (we didn't try it though). The water was unbelievably warm - maybe 28/29' and just so clear! I lived in Ancona from 63 to 71, I have only good memories, one of these is the Passetto, every time I return to Ancona I go for a walk on the small pass and enjoy the view. The rocky beach of the Passetto is part of the territory of the Parco del Conero; it is located below the cliff and is accessible thanks to a large and long white staircase that descends to the shore of the Adriatic Sea. With the summer season, it is the custom of many people from Ancona to sunbathe on the wide panoramic edges of this staircase, which in the central and final part is divided into two symmetrical ramps. The beach can also be reached thanks to a panoramic lift, or by walking down the narrow streets, a local term meaning path that leads to the sea; one of these little roads is in via Panoramica, Below the elevator, there is a public bathing establishment, with umbrellas positioned in a short stretch of artificially constructed...

Il belvedere offre una vista panoramica ideale per una passeggiata contemplativa o per una pausa riflessiva, regalando momenti di pace e bellezza naturale.
