The Mille Miglia (Thousand Miles) was an endurance automobile race in northern Italy that was staged between 1927-57. It was discontinued because of frequent crashes and fatalities, but was reborn in 1982 as a rally race. There is a museum dedicated to the race located in a former monastery, where you can see the classic cars , films and other stuffs like road, customs, and political and social events )from that era. And there's a restaurant that serves delicious food and regional wines. Automobile and racing enthusiasts from around the world, including Jay Leno of The Tonight Show, have attended in the past. Read moreNice small museum of local racing and classical cars. Went when it was opened on weekday and few people there. if you are a car enthusiast it will take you around 1.5h to go through it all. It is filled with vintage posters and car memorabilia, plus around 50 cars from the 1920’s to the ‘70s , including some superb Alfas, Fiats and Bugatti. There is also a small display of 4 Mercedes-Benz classics borrowed from the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart. I love every inch of it, from the building to the cars. Read moreWe visited this museum on our way to Verona. It has plenty parking spaces so you can get there easily by car. We purchased tickets online, but there was no wait to buy them at the front desk in the museum at the time we went. I am a big fan of endurance racing and the Mille Miglia. This museum was everything I expected and more. I truly loved every single room. Something unexpected and genious for me was looking at the floor. They recreated roads from different time periods that the races took place on. This was so immersive and fascanating to take into account when looking at the cars next to it and their speeds.
