FERRANIA FILM MUSEUM — Attraction in Cairo Montenotte

As I am myself a hobby film photographer and travelling around Italia with Mattéo, we thought it would be a great idea to go to Cairo Montenotte, for its castle, its historical town and mainly for its Ferrania Film Museum! We are still beginning with italian, but we could find means to communicate with Alessandro, the guide of the museum. He explained and showed us a lot of things, about how film is produced, about the greatest italian movies with ferrania material... it was a wonderful experience for us to learn about the story of that company and its impact on the local history, with such a patience and generosity. It led us to also know about the library of the Palazzo Scarampi. Thank you very much to all these friendly people and thank you Alessandro for the films! [ENGLISH FOLLOWS] Uno splendore assoluto. Ho passato quasi 3 ore in questo museo, accompagnato da Alessandro Bechis, ex dipendente Ferrania, che con grande proprietà di linguaggio, disponibilità a gentilezza, mi ha accompagnato per mano in un viaggio del tempo che mi ha fatto ripercorrere un pezzo di storia tutta Italiana. Se siete amanti della fotografia, Italiani o stranieri, non importa, non potete non venire a visitare questo gioiello. Un grande GRAZIE anche al comune, che ha voluto sostenere questo museo. Di questi tempi, non è facile trovare chi investe in conoscenza e cultura.

Vi segnalo inoltre un interessantissimo libro acquisstabile in loco, "Egregio Sig. Direttore", un saggio basato su circa 3000 fascicoli del personale della FILM ferrania, e segnalo anche che le pellicole Ferrania sono ancora in produzione, in alcuni dei locali storici dell'azienza.

I spent nearly 3 hours in this museum, accompanied by Alessandro Bechis, a former Ferrania employee, who with great eloquence, willingness, and kindness, guided me through a journey of time that allowed me to revisit a piece of Italian history. Whether you're a lover of photography, Italian, or foreign, it doesn't matter; you cannot miss visiting this gem. A big THANK YOU also to the municipality, which supported this museum. In these times, it's not easy to find those who invest in knowledge and culture.

Nei vicoli di Cairo si nasconde un piccolo grande tesoro. È il Ferrania Film Museum. Non è solo la storia di una fabbrica. È la storia di un'epoca. Dell'industrializzazione di un territorio, del cinema italiano e straniero, dell'architettura industriale, della pubblicità e del marketing, dell'editoria e per ultimo, ma non meno importante, della fotografia a colori e in bianco e nero. Tutto questo è racchiuso nelle stanze di questo piccolo museo.
