READ THIS BEFORE DRIVING HERE!
If you use Google maps note that the directions are wrong in the end. Do not navigate until the end because there is a very steep downhill road which is can be hard to manage.
Instead, navigate to this street:
31 Vicolo II Garibaldi (Don't worry if it seems like you are crossing a square for pedestrians only and passing through a very tight passage - it's allowed. Just make sure your car can cross there!).
When you get to that address you'll see a water fountain (free drinking water - fill up your bottles, you'll need it!).
Next to it there is a sign for the bridge and stairs and then a path that leads there.
The road downhill is steep. The town has a Jeep shuttle service (paid I assume, I didn't use it) that can take you up or down (or both maybe).
If you go on foot, be prepared to work your legs and knees hard 😉 it's not suitable for kids and it's not really an attraction for them, so plan accordingly.
Once you go down and reach a crossroad (left or right) with big sign, turn left. When you finally reach the bridge, it's not that impressive. What's impressive is looking down at the gorge/canyon and rover below! It's pretty High...
So the view is beautiful but that's just one part. If you really want to make the most out of this place, go back a bit and then turn left to continue down the road.
When you reach the river you can truly appreciate the bridge, a small waterfall and the beautiful nature around!
Once you're ready to climb back up, it can take around 20-30 min on foot. You can also call the Jeep shuttle service.
If you do walk back up on foot, here's a tip: DON'T WALK STRAIGHT UP!
Instead walk in a snake-like way, walking diagonally from left to right and then right to left etc
This way you make the slope less harsh and you'll be able to walk faster and easier. Don't worry about looking foolish, it helps! (See the video...
Read moreLovely little bridge with views down the gorge. Great circular walk back to Civita on the trail north of the bridge - the steep path is well marked, but then it comes to a hostel and peters out. Find the low path to the left of the hostel to link to the track by the farm buildings to the north. Don’t take the high path to the right as it disappears eventually and you’re stranded halfway up the ridge - as we...
Read moreDefinitely worth a visit. The bridge literally links nothing with nothing, so there isn’t much to see or do around there. However, the trail is really stunning as it’s immersed into nature and also the view from the top of the bridge is pretty impressive as it’s 120 ft...
