We ate here two nights in a row and had two very different experiences. On the first night the food and service was only average while on the second everything was pretty much perfect. I guess anyone can have a bad day at the office.

Stand out dishes came from the primi section of the menu - gnocchi stuffed with buffalo mozzarella which came with scampi and red shrimp and a daily special of pasta stuffed with goats cheese topped with shaved black truffle.

Try to make sure you leave some room for cheese - which is served before the dessert as it should be 😀. We shared a plate made up of 6 different local cheeses, in variety of styles, which was sublime.

As you would expect the wine list reads like war and peace - all the big names and vintages along with some lesser known and more wallet friendly choices.

My top tip to get the most out of the lovely dining room would be to request a table which has been set up to enable you to enjoy the stunning views (I found it surprising that lots of the tables are laid up so you have your back to the windows).

Mercoledì 2 ottobre in giro per le Langhe con destinazione il CASTELLO GRINZANE DI CAVOUR. Siamo spesso in Piemonte io e la mia compagna e in special modo nelle Langhe, le dolci colline ricoperte di vigneti che si perdono a perdita d'occhio e che producono vini pregiati ci affascinano sempre di più ogni volta che ci ritorniamo in questa occasione scegliamo il CASTELLO GRINZANE DI CAVOUR come luogo da visitare. Partiamo col dire che il castello e ben tenuto e curato e si staglia imponente sulla collina e domina i vigneti sottostanti della tenuta Cavour. Arrivati in mattinata presto ci godiamo come al solito lo splendido panorama dal giardino del castello veramente suggestivo in una mattina di ottobre soleggiata e calda, il castello ospita l'enoteca regionale del Piemonte dove si possono degustare e acquistare vini pregiati del territorio come idea regalo o per se, il castello ospita anche un ristorante stellato diretto dallo chef Marc Lanteri che annovera riconoscimenti a livello internazionale. Nei saloni del castello ci sono varie testimonianze della vita trascorsa del famoso politico nonché produttore ed estimatore dei nobili vini piemontesi, il grande CAMILLO BENSO CONTE DI CAVOUR il quale per qualche anno e stato anche sindaco dell'omonimo paese "GRINZANE CAVOUR" che ospita la tenuta del conte, il castello nel suo percorso di visita espone innumerevoli illustrazioni nonché reperti storici legati al famoso politico che hanno fatto parte della sua vita quatidiana,reperti legati al territorio nonché alla produzione, conservazione e invecchiamento dei nobili vini piemontesi. Nel cortiletto interno trova posto anche un piccolo bar dove si possono fare aperitivi e degustazioni di ECCELLENTE BAROLO nell'attesa di pranzare o cenare nel ristorante di Marc Lanteri o semplicemente come noi degustando un ECCELLENTE BAROLO assaporando il gusto della vita di un tempo passato. A stunning 11th century castle, built and expanded across the subsequent centuries, in a dominant position on the top of a hill, with a breathtaking 360° view on the surroundings, especially on the world famous vineyards of the Langhe, aligned in precise parallel lines like well combed hair, alternated with just as well kept fields cultivated with hazelnuts, another of the local essential crops of the region.
