I think this theater is only used for Andrea Bocelli's concert. So I am going to review this place together with Bocelli's concert as I hope someone from the Bocelli's organisation will see my comment and hopefully consider it in the future events. I attended Bocelli's concert here on July 2023 and it was the second time I was in his concert 1. The event management in this place was terrible. I cannot believe how a concert can start with 45 mins delay specially in such a place where it is outdoor and you go there with the hope of hearing the music with a nice view. If it starts so late that it is dark in the night, what is the point of having it in such a place?! They suggest to be there 2-3 hours earlier, can you imagine how tired and bored you get after waiting this long plus an hour delay? 2. In this LONG waiting time they play ONE single adv video of Bocelli's foundation which really went on my nerve after hearing and watching it for 3 hours! They can play some other things to amuse people during that time. 3. Last comment is for Bocelli as the singer, I know you have great voice for opera, but please do not forget that not all your audience likes your opera songs, specially the young generation, why do you focus only on singing opera and just sing a couple of repeated pop songs in each concert? You have a lot of nice pop songs that I hope to hear in the concert and every time I get disappointed seeing you are focusing on opera. At least you can publish the concert plan so people who do not like opera songs do not buy the tickets. You also invite a lot of new young talents to the concert which I admire, but please remember that if from every two songs one is sang by another singer, then it cannot be called Andrea Bocelli's...
Read moreI originally went in 2015 as a once in a lifetime trip. Well, I've been to 7 of these concerts in a row now. 2023 was the first time since then that I missed it. I guess a trip to Toscana every July is a bit addictive! Why did I not go this year? The first post-COVID concert was in 2021 and a group of 8 of us had tickets. 7 of the group were in the UK and could not travel from the UK to Italy. Not a problem, the organisers gave everyone who could not attend the opportunity to have a refund. 7 refund requests were made via the official Vivaticket website... no refunds have ever been received. Vivaticket and the organisers, City Sound, blame each other and nothing happens. Quite a few people have had the same problem and written about it on other forums. I boycotted the concert in protest this year. All I want is the refund for 2021!
Don't get me wrong. It's always an amazing concert experience, in an amazing location with amazing artists. Just wonderful and something all music lovers should attend at least once. Artistically these concerts are world class.
As others have mentioned the organisation is just chaotic. If it were a one off concert then it would be forgivable, especially when a lot of the people working at the concert are volunteers. It has the same problems every year. Transport, access from the bus drop of points to the theatre and back again, dire food and drink facilities, timekeeping: the 20:30 start time is a joke as its normally 21:15ish before it starts.
Despite all the flaws I'd...
Read moreWe went on 27July as part of a Tuscany group tour. We arrived by coach, parked with the masses and were shuttled in mass to a drop off point. From there on it was tough...the drop point was a slight inclined narrow roadway between residences. It was essentially a shoulder to shoulder...belly button to butt mass of people and an excruciatingly slow pace up the incline and down the incline to a narrower left turn downhill to bag inspection/security. All told...about 1 1/2 hours to security. Security consisted of about 3 guys checking THOUSANDS of concert goers....and primarily making sure ALL caps were off water bottles. It was a long walk down to the venue but wow was the view beautiful once in the site. Beautiful rolling hills, a setting sun and a rising half moon. The concert began at about 930pm and AB really hit his mark on the third encore Nessum Dorma. Getting out was just tougher going uphill this time with the same herd all narrowing down to the shuttle pick up point and then back to the coach. Go EARLY ..and plan to stay LATE to avoid the masses. VERY long warm beer and wine lines...except during the performance (hint). The wait time and lack of "facilities" for men & women resulted in A LOT of both literally hitting the bushes behind the grandstand seating. Overall, it was a bucket list-type experience, but I could be talked into it again just for the views if I they could fix the...
