Museo Archeologico Lametino — Attraction in Lamezia Terme

This is a most interesting and rewarding museum located next to the San domenica church in the centre of nicastro, lamezia. It looks very unassuming from the outside but inside it’s well laid out with a chronological history of the various periods of human habitation in this area. I read about the Museum, but didn't know how worth the visit it was. I absolutely loved it! Luigi, the guide, explained in detail every single aspect of the tour, that lasted around 2 hours, and wasn't tiring at all, since there was so much to see and learn about territory and history! He also gave me suggestions on the next things to visit in Lamezia Terme; he knew the place very well since born and raised in Nicastro. Absolutely recommended. The entrance was free...

L'ho rivisitato oggi in occasione delle giornate europee del patrimonio. Il museo è situato in pieno centro, all'inizio del monumentale Corso Numistrano, cuore della movida cittadina. È ospitato al secondo piano del seicentesco ex convento di San Domenico, dove peraltro si può ammirare il chiostro e l'annessa splendida chiesa barocca. Un moderno e largo ascensore permette l'ingresso ai diversamente abili ed a tutte le persone che hanno difficoltà nel salire le scale. L'interno è ben organizzato e si trovano importanti reperti archeologici del territorio lametino. Tra questi, i pezzi forti sono senz'altro i sarcofagi di epoca greca, di cui uno in perfetto stato di conservazione: praticamente è stato ritrovato intatto dopo 2.500 anni....
