Parco Virgiliano — Attraction in Naples

Talk about a lost opportunity! This park is what every city would kill for, yet nobody is doing anything with it.

The views from the park are amazing, but the area and the park itself is not well maintained. The paths in the park are mostly gravel and unlit, with no drinking water to be found, except for two tiny vendors that sell snacks. Benches and sitting areas are nowhere to be found.

All that said, if you're just looking for THE spot to watch the sunset in Naples, this is the place to be! Come 20 minutes before the sunset, and bring something to wear as it can get a bit windy and chilly. (Especially one...

I visited this place on July 2024. The view from here is truly amazing, you can see Capri, Ischia and Nisida islands and the panorama is stunning! However, the park maintenance is totally missing, with grass not curated and flooring completely ruined. Moreover, car parkings are super dirty and not organized at all - the only parking meter did not work at time of my visit. Moreover, small bars inside this park DO NOT ACCEPT any credit cards and this is a huge shame for tourists. We used the hop on hop off tourist bus and got off here to find the donkey track down to the beach. This hidden gem is what we discovered. Initially it looks like a green space not much to get excited about. (We entered from the side not the main entrance). Then we got nosey, the views were spectacular. Lots of places to explore and as you walk around the view changes and opens out over the sea. I wish we'd known about it before we stumbled on it and allowed a little more time.
