Be VERY CAREFUL buying jewelry here! I bought a cameo ring last week, and the beautiful sales lady told me how wonderful the cameo was in its gold setting.
The ring was slightly too large, a 6 (US) and I wear a 5.5. I asked her if she would size it down, and she said, sorry, there wasn't quite enough time to size it down, that I could have a jeweler size it down upon my return home.
Unfortunately, when I got to my jeweler in Denver, they said they couldn't size it down without ruining the finish BECAUSE IT WASN'T GOLD. IT WAS A GOLD PLATE OVER SILVER. I was lied to in the showroom and charged for a gold ring when what I received was a cheap plating.
If you apply heat to gold plating it simply melts the plating off. You cannot re-plate it at most jewelers.
I SHOULD HAVE ASKED to borrow a jewelers magnifier so I could see if the gold said 14K or 18K OR in my case, .925, which means it's plated over 92.5% silver. TOTAL FRAUD.
Do NOT do what I did, and buy a ring on the word of an aggressive sales lady WITHOUT VERIFYING YOURSELF WHAT THE COMPOSITION OF THE METAL IS.
I am infuriated that this story which comes recommended by tour groups would pass off a fraudulent metal. SHAME ON...
Read moreOn the way from Naples to Pompeii, we stopped at this family workshop. I wasn't inclined because I don't like cameos. Now I'm glad that coincidence got involved. They revealed to me how this jewelry is made and how much patience and skill is needed to create it. In addition to jewelry, they also make other items (for example, wall clocks, landscapes...). The creativity in the design, the perfect precision in depicting the big in the small (folds of hair, branches...) delighted me. Although it was obvious that I wasn't going to buy anything, a younger woman (she told me she was family) approached me and spoke to me kindly. The environment is extremely pleasant to the extent that I did not notice the difference between the workers and the family. They are adapted to tourist tours (there is a toilet for visitors, there are stairs, but it is possible that there is another access - I did not ask) but they managed to preserve the atmosphere of domestic production. Whether you liked the cameos or not, you...
Read moreI visited Palazzo de Corallo on a school trip, where I learned about the history of the company and their jewelry-making process. While there, I purchased a pendant and chain. A few weeks after returning home to the U.S., the chain snapped. I reached out to them via email, hoping to get a replacement since I couldn’t find a way to purchase just the chain on their website. Their response was prompt, professional, and very helpful. They asked for a photo of the chain, pendent I purchased and my certificate of guarantee, and then sent me a new chain completely free of charge. I was extremely impressed with their customer service and wanted to share my positive experience with...
