Roccaraso Ski Pass AltoSangro Siafas — Attraction in Roccaraso

I hadn't skied for over 36 years but my daughter persuaded me to join my grandchildren and son-in-law to join them this February at the Roccaraso ski resort in the Apennines. We based ourselves at Rivisondoli, a fairly small centre but the experience was well worth it. The staff were just tremendous - friendly, understanding and very helpful - given my complete lack of vocabulary in the Italian language. Everything was easy, from ski pass, to hiring equipment and the slopes were beautifully maintained and sufficient in number for a beginner but challenging enough - several falls, stumbles and tumbles and and ungainly methods of getting to my feet. Yes, I did have a lesson and the instructor was excellent and not too expensive and he got me from zero to happily staying 'mostly' on my feet all the way down. Beautiful place to visit in the winter if you go for holiday around Rome, this is one of the best spot to ski near Rome, for winter vacation. Surely there are many other better options in North, but if you don’t have enough time, and you want to spend for spend 4-5 days near the Italian capital , it is nice to consider a nice day under the snow in this little town. The local people are very hospital, the facilities are quite easy and affordable and it won’t miss the great local wine to warm you up. It’s a bit tired for families, but I recommend this trip for groups of friends or couple looking for adventures; There are different level for ski, easy roads, medium level and also track for expert only ; There are also teacher in case you want to learn and all the ski, snow and snowboard equipment can be rent daily or weekly . Il comprensorio è grande (più di cento km dichiarati, molti meno effettivi) e ha piste molto varie. È il miglior comprensorio del centro Italia.

L'accesso al comprensorio avviene quattro ingressi principali

Venendo da Roma il primo è quello del Montepratello con parcheggio gratuito (più scarpinata) e a pagamento (4 euro/giornata). Per arrivare alle piste da quest'ultimo ci sono un tappeto e una scala mobile. In mezzo il noleggio per gli sci. Il secondo accesso è a Pizzalto con parcheggio solo a pagamento, ma piste a livello di strada. Il terzo e quarto accesso solo le Gravare e l'Aremogna che è il più centrale, ma anche quello con il parcheggio più piccolo e gratuito. Per questo è difficile trovare posto. L'accesso può richiedere una breve camminata in salita.

Per la strada e in questi ultimi 3 accessi il prezzo fisso è di 4,5 euro al giorno. Le mute arrivano istantaneamente.

Il prezzo degli Skipass variano a secondo il periodo da 35 a 45 euro circa con agevolazioni irrisorie per bimbi. Per includere Pizzalto ci vogliono 2 euro in più, il che consente anche di prendere l'ovovia alle Gravare (!) inaccessibile anche con i punti.

La pista più bella e difficile è la Direttissima del Pratello. Occhio alla azzurra di Pizzalto che è difficile per chi inizia. Per i principianti, meglio la verde del Pratello, che fatta come prolunga della azzurra (accessibile tramite ovovia) forma la pista più lunga del comprensorio. La pista più spettacolare è la 7s sempre sul Pratello. Le gare si fanno invece sulla lupo dell'Aremogna.

Occhio ai skilift, alcuni possono essere molto complicati per i bambini e le persone inesperte.

Le scuole sci sono tante, per iniziare si possono scegliere quelle con tappeto mobile per risalire. Il prezzo è comunque sempre attorno a 50 euro/ora. A Natale è necessario prenotare con anticipo.

A pizzalto c'è un blando servizio di animazione/intrattenimento con musica. Al Pratello un spazio dedicato ai bambini.

Lo chalet più bello per mangiare sta alla fine della s sul Pratello. Il più gustoso sopra l'Aremogna dove si trovano ottimi arrosticini alla griglia.
