Tenuta San Francesco — Attraction in San Felice a Cancello

This was an absolute highlight of our visit to the Amalfi Coast. After a long and winding drive, we arrived at the most authentic, seemingly old world Italian destination of our entire vacation. I am sure there are many wineries much older, much further from the beaten path…but this was the one we found, and it was amazing. The estate is owned by a small group of friends and family, and everyone we met there was from this group. This is their life. When we sat down at our table, we were right next to the mother and daughter cutting and rolling gnocchi, while other ladies from the family were hard at work in the kitchen. It felt like an Italian version of Thanksgiving. The food was outstanding…both in quality as well as in witnessing the passion that went into preparing it. The wines were delightful, and learning about the history of their vines and the challenges of the steep terrain, to meeting the cow they own so they can make their own fertilizer…it was just perfect. The Tenuta San Francesco Winery is operated by a group of four renowned wine makers and their families who all take great pride in producing great Amalfi Coast Wines… We took their cooking class, ate sumptuous appetizers and a full luncheon, sampled their classic, old vine wines and toured the vineyards… What a wonderful way to spend the day…

Having Italian Ancestry, I was personally welcomed with open arms by the warm and friendly staff, as were my wife and two friends who ended up purchasing several of their offerings for shipment back to Florida…

First and foremost, the wine production is excellent. We enjoyed every bottle tasted and purchased enough wine to enjoy back at our hotel and bring home in our suitcase.
