Giardino Sonoro — Attraction in Santu Sparau/San Sperate

So this little garden of arts is the most magical place I have seen.

But you have to consider that I am in love with music, nature and sculpture. And if you feel like you are too, then this is the place.

Pinuccio Sciola is now my favorite sculptor. There is lot to see and to hear in the garden. But especially to feel, so make sure you have time.

Visit and Tickets

They say the visit takes about 20-30 minutes, but I could spend there around 2 hours just sitting somewhere in the shadows and thinking or meditating.

Museum has visiting hours, and you have to make a booking through the website or by a call. The tickets cost around 7 Euros.

Transportation If you are by car, you are lucky. If not, there is roughly one way to get there. You need to take a regional bus from Cagliari Autostazione. Be careful with times and schedules, otherwise you may miss them or wait for hours and even not be able to find one...

Walking into Pinuccio Sciola’s Giardino Sonoro in San Sperate is like stepping into an alternate reality. The open-air museum is dotted with towering stone monoliths, mostly basalt and limestone, carefully carved into mysterious standing forms that echo both ancient Sardinian megaliths and futuristic totems. Each monolith is not only a visual spectacle but a sound sculpture. Only the guides of the museum are entrusted with the rare privilege of playing the stones. Their hand, trained, respectful, and deeply familiar with the subtle language of each carved surface, bring forth otherworldly sounds that transform stone into music, like the liquid tones, or “sound of water” as described by the artist, emitted by limestone monoliths when gently stroked. "Cosa facciamo nel pomeriggio? Andiamo a vedere il centro di Cagliari o nel sito archeologico?" "Una mia amica mi ha consigliato di vedere il giardino sonoro" "Ma è bello?" "Boh, di lei mi fido però" ... Prima di andare guardo l'indirizzo su Google e vedo che l'attività ha 4.9/5.0 come media voto. Non che io mi fidi particolarmente delle recensioni, ma 4.9 è fuori scala! La Sagrada Familia che è la cosa PIÙ BELLA che io abbia mai visto ha 4.7 (giusto per capirci)... Boh andiamo allora. Arriviamo e la ragazza che gestisce gli ingressi, fa i biglietti, ti fa da guida nel tour del giardino (insomma tutto) ci dice che sono pieni e che possiamo fare la visita alle 17.30.

Un'ora d'attesa in un paesino in culandia nell'interno della Sardegna senza poter fare nulla. Iniziamo bene.

Va beh, restiamo e aspettiamo. Poi finalmente si entra, si fa il biglietto, si attendo un po' e il tour inizia.

E succede, senza che tu te lo aspettassi minimamente. Maria ti porta nel mondo di Pinuccio Sciola, un personaggio straordinario che ha deciso di mettersi ad ascoltare e guardare le pietre (cosa che di per sé sarebbe sufficiente a far dubitare della sanità mentale dello stesso). E in esse ci trova una bellezza inaspettata che commuove e la piazza li, a portata di tutti. A portata tua che fino a due minuti prima ti chiedevi perché fossi venuto in quel posto. E Maria mostra tutto questo facendoti appassionare come un bimbo che vede i cartoni animati per la prima volta. Facendoti entrare nella mente dell'artista con una leggerezza e umanità che ti lascia impietrito, con gli occhi lucidi per la bellezza che trasmette e lasciandoti solo la forza di annuire quando ti racconta e mostra le opere.

Non è una cosa che si può spiegare a parole, prendete un volo per Cagliari e andate a vedere questo giardino magico. Poi tornate pure a casa il giorno stesso e ne sarà valsa comunque la pena. Oppure, invece che tornare diretti, cercate un Cagliari-Barcellona e andate a visitare la Sagrada Familia. La seconda cosa più bella che io...
