San Ponziano, Spoleto — Attraction in Spoleto

A good point of departure for our visit to Vallo di Nera and Spoleto. Absolute rest in the monastery, a modernized hotel with the historic structure intact. We enjoyed breakfasts as a first family gathering and enjoying the good, friendly service and cake! Quiet, a spiritual treat and history screaming at us. We enjoyed the good trip advise at the gates from the man who would only admit to being one who helped the nuns, but seemed to read from some universal library of knowledge Clean, good value for money. If you come at night, beware of the small sign on the right hand side of the road, as your navigation system likely will send you to the abbey further up in the hills. We wanted to visit the Basilica of San Salvatore a few metres away, but it's currently closed for restoration. Luckily we decided to check this out, and it was open. The main church interior is a very average 18th century stuccoed church, but underneath is a beautiful crypt with medieval and renaissance frescoes.

Sono stata in questa struttura di ospitalità con la mia famiglia, siamo stati accolti dalla signora Donatella che ha da poco riammodernato e riaperto la struttura. Bè ha fatto proprio un grande e buon lavoro. La stanza era ben pulita, accogliente e completa di tutto il necessario, anche una piccola cucinetta di cui non abbiamo usufruito. La colazione è stata gustosa e abbondante con vista sul chiostro interno. Comodissima per la visita alla città senza spostare la macchina e stressarsi a cercare il parcheggio. Porre solo attenzione alle indicazioni di maps che portano a passare per una stradina strettissima a fianco del cimitero dove la maggior parte delle macchine rischia di segnare la fiancata, la strada consigliata da Donatella è invece comodissima dalla flaminia, chiedete!
