Castello di Formigine — Attraction in Unione dei comuni del Distretto Ceramico

Awesome awesome awesome staff! Cool place in a quaint little town. Castle is entry with free guided tour only (I think they do every 30 minutes). Unexpectedly at the last tour of the day, they did an English tour for me and my wife seperate from the main Italian group. The guide, who's name i regrettably forget, was incredible. She took us on an off script tour to avoid overcrowding with the rest of the other group, was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell she enjoyed her job. My wife and I both loved the tour, the castle, accommodation and the exceptional knowledge she had. She was able to answer every ignorant question with ease, her English was phenomenal and we are glad we were able to help her out with the torch. This place has some interesting history, even well before the WWII bombing, but also afterwards. There is now a restaurant on premises, but NO experience with what the restaurant has to offer and they are not included in the ratings in this review. The castle...

Large and ancient castle right in the centre of Formigine, where you'd least expect it. The whole castle is authentic and it's amazing to see that it's still standing. From the front it's amazing to photograph, but I wish that the inside had a little more of a "castle feel" rather than just featuring a great green area and trees. Ci siamo recati presso questo castello 🏰 nel primo pomeriggio, per una visita del sito. La struttura, in pieno centro a Formigine, si presenta imponente ma ben inserita nel contesto urbanistico cittadino. Alla reception due gentili signorine 👩🏻👩🏻‍🦱 ci hanno illustrato il percorso della visita e consegnato le audio guide 🔊 (peraltro senza alcun sovrapprezzo). Oltre alla rocchetta (che rappresenta la parte più antica dell'intero complesso), il castello si compone anche del cosiddetto palazzo marchionale, che ospita tra l'altro anche alcuni locali destinati ad uso istituzionale (come la sala del consiglio comunale). Il tutto è immerso nel verde 🌿 del parco archeologico 🗿, un'area di oltre 4000 mq che conserva i resti dell'antica pieve ⛪ dedicata a San Bartolomeo 🙏🏻. Veramente eccellente il lavoro di restauro 🏗🧱 che ha riconsegnato alla comunità formiginese un patrimonio importante. Il biglietto di ingresso 🎫 intero costa 4 euro 💶, ma sono previste esenzioni per determinate categorie. Ideale per un bel pomeriggio modenese passato all'insegna della cultura. CONSIGLIATO 👍.
