974/5000 The Museum of Oriental Art and Culture is located in the former Chancery, an eighteenth-century two-storey building, part of the Aldobrandesco Castle complex. The building kindly made available by the Municipality of Arcidosso, is the result of over 35 years of collaboration between the Dzogchen Community of Merigar and the Municipality of Arcidosso. The Museum is a project conceived by Prof. Namkhai Norbu, internationally renowned scholar, president of the Dzogchen Community, of the Shang Shung Foundation, of ASIA Onlus, and author of over 250 publications. He has collected with his family a private collection consisting of about five thousand artifacts: works of art, craft and costume objects, votive objects of considerable cultural and ethnographic value, important documentary collections and documents concerning his research and studies on Himalayan and Central Asian culture. Si raggiunge a piedi, dato che si trova nella Rocca Aldobrandesca di Arcidosso.
