Arita Ceramic Museum — Attraction in Arita

I enjoyed this little museum. The lady at the desk spoke some English, and there were a few samples of antique porcelain. The video was great, as they brought to life images from an old platter which shows the porcelain making process. I learned a lot! The building is also fascinating- an old Stone warehouse. Worth the 100 yen entry. The plate in this photo is my favorite as it has been repaired...

This free museum is well curated. The exhibits have English descriptions and gives an excellent overview of pottery in Kyushu. Their collections are outstanding.

We stayed for an hour on a rainy day so it wasn't busy.

Every half hour the clock opens up for a little show with porcelain cogs and weighted balls.

The only drawback is that the gift shop...

有田焼の作品が展示されている施設です。 規模は大きくありませんが、そのぶん入場料も安いです。ひととおり見るだけなら10分もかからないかな。

自分が行った時は他に客はおらず、2階を見ていると受付の人が慌ててエアコンのスイッチを入れにきました。（長居しないから別につけなくていいとは言ったのですが） んでもって、どこから来たのか尋ねられたので愛媛県と答えたら、どこにあるのか分かってもらえなかったりと、なんだかゆるさを感じましたが、小規模な施設だったら...
