A good pitstop from biei to asahikawa (15km or so to the town) . You will have to climb to level 2 of the deck to see a paranoma view of the area. The entry is free and car-parking is free too.
The park itself has walking routes, but i did not attempt to walk. So im not sure of the quality of walk in the area.
There are a few shops opposite the carpark. The shops are closing when we reached around 1645hrs and closed by 1700hrs.

Read moreHokusei Slope observatory is in the same area as Biei's famous trees, especially the Ken and Mary tree. If you're in the area it's well worth a stop. It has great views across Biei and the valley to Tokachi Dake. There's parking, toilets and yatai food stalls. Make sure Google maps takes you to the top parking area...
Read moreVisited during summer and was a nice place to walk off around with the kids. The views of the surrounding "patchwork" fields was also great, viewed from the observatory. Also has some souvenir shops and a few spots to pick up a quick bite. Toilets are also there. It was quite busy when we went with lots of tourists....
