I was walking towards Yamanaka Lake from Kitaguchi Sengen shrine so this was a good stop to learn more about Mount Fuji. A lot of the information is in Japanese but there’s English translations for some of the showcases. There’s a video telling about Konohanasakuya and the Fire Festival. Finally there’s a projection mapping video (they call it VR) near the entrance running every 15th and 45th minute. I think it was really well done and I was inspired to climb Mount Fuji.
The staff was also kind and let me speak in Japanese which I’m still learning. She also noticeably slowed down her speech so that I can follow.

Read moreNice museum, sent about an hour there, but I recommend 1.5-2 hours. It is small but really helped me immerse myself into the Fuji culture. I think it is better to visit it first before going to see the other landmarks here, to get into the mood and get familiar with their importance. Some of the displays are videos that start on specific times (on the hour, so take note and try to plan ahead. The "VR" exhibition is really cool. Most of the captions are written in Japanese, but there is a free English audio guide that reads out most of the captions, and translates the audio...
Read moreLast week we visited the Mt. Fuji Museum with my family. It was very interesting to see the history and mysticism that surrounds Fuji. They have displays that show how going to the top of the mountain has been a religious experience for centuries. The museum itself was small but very informative. I never had an interest to hike to the top... but after going to the museum, I just may do it. To top it off... the best part of the museum was the breathtaking view.
