There is a decent sized parking lot that and I love that it isn’t a far walk from the lot to the beach, so that makes it convenient for transporting beach chairs, coolers, etc. There are covered picnic tables between the beach and the parking lot that you can sit and eat at, the beach has a netted area to swim in and it’s all sand, no rocks in the water.
Edit: I changed my review to one star. I had no idea we had to reserve tables as where I am from, tables are first come, first serve at the beach. We got a table and set up for my daughter’s birthday. No one said anything to us until about two hours into our party, someone came with a clipboard and kicked us off because the table was apparently reserved. There were no signs indicating such. My friends and family had to move all of our food, and stuff to a nearby bench. Now our guests are sitting on the ground, serving themselves from food on a bench and I have been sitting here on the ground for an hour and half looking at an EMPTY TABLE that we could’ve used had they of just said that we had to be out by a certain time. Terrible treatment and handling of this situation. Ruined my daughter’s birthday.
Edit #2: It’s now 3pm and we’re getting ready to leave. FINALLY, the people who reserved the table came about 10mins ago. So basically we could’ve sat there the whole time. I’m livid. I will never come back...
Read moreThe showers and lockers at the beach were recently replaced (in autumn 2018). Facilities are a bit basic by Honshu standards, but fantastic for Okinawa. There is a convenience store at the beach that sells drinks (including beer), chips, ice cream, and sundries (such as swimming goggles, flipflops and so on). The Beach is well protected by a jelly fish net, so the supervised swimming area is utterly safe for even the most paranoid swimmer. Keep an eye on the tide times to decide when to come down: high tide is great for families with wee ones, as the water is shallow and warm, and high tide is great for adults as the swimming area is vast and less crowded. Please say hello to the several cat colonies at the park. Ginowan City had spent a great deal on a catch-neuter-release program, and virtually all the cats are healthy, well-fed, and often...
Read moreThis is one of the nicer beaches on Okinawa. It has free parking but it is limited so get there early. Beach use is free and it has restrooms and changing rooms. Additionally you can rent umbrellas and sun shades for larger crowds. You can bring your own tents but will be required to set them up behind the rentals. There is a fair amount of open beach to use and the swimming area is netted so wildlife, such as jellyfish, can get in. Additionally, there are grassy areas and a park nearby if you want to take a break from the water. There is no snorkeling allowed; flotation devices (rings, tubes, water wings) are allowed but are limited to personal sizes (no multi-person rafts). It is a great place to spend...
