安土桃山時代の天正年間(1573〜1592年)開創された寺院で、境内にある三重の塔は、江戸時代の享保14年(1729年)に建立され、埼玉県指定文化財になっている比較的小さいながらも歴史ある三重の塔でした。 江戸時代築造の古い三重の塔は埼玉県内に3箇所残存しており、他に吉見町の安楽寺、川口市の西福寺があり、最後に成就院を訪れる事ができました。

８月中旬の平日訪問。トイレあり。 江戸時代に建立された埼玉に３件しかない三重塔を有する寺院。真言宗。建物の高さがかなり小さい。 しかし、これはある意味歴史的意味を持っていると思われる。当時の日本人の身長の概念に応じて３階建てを作成した場合、当院の三重塔の高さになるかもしれないからである。 三重塔の他、駐車場も小さいがあり。

周辺は田んぼに囲まれた水も豊かな長閑な場所に立地している真言宗智山派の寺院です。当寺で一番有名な見所は「三重塔」です。江戸時代建立の三重塔は埼玉県では非常に珍しいと言う事で県指定文化財となっています。コンパクトな塔ですが、建築は随所に凝っていて見応えが有ります。 また境内には新しく建立されたぴんころ地蔵の石像を筆頭に様々な仏教オブジェが点在しており見ていて飽きません。新旧が混在した魅力ある寺院ですが行田市街地からは離れているので訪問には車が便利だと思います。(平地が多い行田市はサイクリングも推していますので...
