Absolutely stunning place with a great view of Hakodate city itself, the Tsugaru Straits in front of it and Cape Tachimachi to the right, plus due to it's inaccessability, it is a very quiet place as well- no kids running when I was there on a weekend afternoon. Also a great place to start from if you're planning to hike up to Mt Hakodate instead of taking the ropeway, though it can be far, around 6km-ish if I recall correctly.

Requires a fair amount of walking from the nearest tram stop though, with a bit of a uphill walk through a cemetery as well so it is recommended to wear a comfortable pair of shoes if you're planning on walking here/ hiking from here to the top of...

The Cape Kamui Lighthouse is a cape located in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, Japan. It is a scenic spot with both an observation deck and a lighthouse, located about a 30-minute drive from Hakodate City. The cape faces the Sea of Japan and is known for its 360-degree panoramic view.

The Kamui Cape observation deck is located about 30 meters above the sea level, offering a stunning view of the Northern Territories, including Kunashiri Island, Rebun Island, and Rausu-dake Mountain, on clear days. The sunset view as the sun sinks into the sea is also breathtakingly beautiful.

On the southern side of the cape, there is an observation deck where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Hakodate City and Goryokaku. The night view of Hakodate City, which is famous for its beauty, can be enjoyed from this observation deck. In particular, during the winter, the snow-covered city lights create a magical and enchanting atmosphere.

Furthermore, there is a red-brick lighthouse at Cape Kamui that was selected as one of Japan's top 100 lighthouses. Although the inside is not open to the public as it has been automated, the lighthouse's beautiful appearance is popular among tourists.

Cape Kamui has free parking, restrooms, and restaurants, making it easily accessible and comfortable for tourists. There are also many other tourist attractions, such as a fish market and hot springs, around the cape. If you visit Hakodate, be sure to...

Located in the southeast of Mt. Hakodate, Cape Tachimachi is a scenic gem offering breathtaking panoramic views. To reach the viewing area, you’ll walk through a serene cemetery, adding a touch of uniqueness to the journey. The cape is best visited on a clear, sunny day to fully appreciate the stunning vistas.

Practical amenities, such as clean toilets, enhance the experience, making it a comfortable stop for visitors. However, keep in mind that the road leading to the cape is one-way, so plan accordingly. Whether you're a nature lover or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Cape Tachimachi is worth adding to...

A beautiful spot off the beaten path. It offers some breathtaking views of the sea and the panorama of the city from a different angle. The sunset can’t be viewed from this vantage point but it has its own charm as the soft colours of twilight come on with the setting sun. The quiet scenery and the cries of the gills are quite evocative. A good spot for nature photography buffs and for folks who love to take dramatic selfies. The steep cliffs and the cold winds make this a chilly spot so do bundle up before taking the walk along the paths!
