The Hamanako Orgel Museum is right across the ropeway from the PalPal amusement park, so I recommend getting the Hamanako 2-Day Pass, which gives you unlimited rides on the ropeway, buses, trains, and cruises, plus a discount on your admission to the museum. Due to its proximity to PalPal, it's a good place to stop in if you're bringing your kids to the amusement park.
The music box building is probably the star attraction, in my opinion. Since all of the songs are by Japanese artists, unless you're familiar with J-pop and/or can read Katakana, you may have to just pick a couple at random and see which sounds good - you can preview the songs before you build. Confusingly, music boxes and other items can be purchased from the gift shop via credit card, but the admission tickets are cash only.
