Saijo Sake Brewery Street — Attraction in Higashi Hiroshima

I love sake and was really looking forward to learning more about it. I arrived around 10:30 a.m. and stayed until 3 p.m. because the only English tour available was at 2:30. During that time, I tried to visit and taste sake in other breweries nearby, but it was quite frustrating — most of them were empty, had no English information at all, or the staff simply ignored me when I politely asked (even in Japanese) to try some sake.

This street is full of charm — surrounded by beautiful traditional brewery buildings, red brick chimneys, gentle scent of sake in the air & colourful manhole covers. The covers are beautifully designed, depicting the area’s heritage with such care & vivid color. A wonderful surprise that adds even more character to an already atmospheric street. A morning walk along Saijo Sakagura Street in winter can be very quiet. It's about a 30 minute drive from Hiroshima Airport, so it might be a good idea to stop by before...
