Minato Park — Attraction in Hitachinaka

Many picnics with our 2 daughters as they were growing up. Many chances to practice riding their bikes until good enough to riding on the roads. Found, and can still find 4 leaf clovers in the grass around the old famous Sumo circle that is now flower arrangement gardens. There is secret stairs leading down into the private homes area, with a little brick red temple to say a few quick prayers at for safe keeping, and there is a asphalt road leading into the park from the paid parking lot below. The swing area, and the asphalt road Cherry Trees are the prettiest in these 2 spots of the park. But you'll enjoy the Giant Bonsai Trees that are well taken care of year around too as we have. 湊公園は、水戸藩の迎賓館であったい賓閣跡を整備した公園です。い賓閣は徳川御三家の水戸藩主が大切なお客様をもてなしていたそうで、当時はお浜御殿・湊御殿とよばれていたそうです。

与謝野晶子・小山いと子文学碑

与謝野晶子が３代目の橋を短歌で詠まれ。 小山いと子は小説「海門橋」で４代目の橋を描かれています。その碑が海門橋の見える公園内にあります。

樹齢３００年以上の松が見事な景観をみせています。

イワレンゲ（天然記念物）

湊公園を後にして那珂湊第一高に向かっていくと あづまが丘公園があります。
