Our rafting trip with Hozugawa Rafting was incredible from start to finish! Their staff is amazing (actually I cannot express how incredible they are!)-so friendly and accommodating, they took care of every detail and made sure our experience was the best we had over the course of our entire trip to Japan. Our rafting guide, Masa, was excellent! So friendly and explained everything to ensure our rafting trip was fun and safe while experiencing the most beautiful scenery of the Hozugawa river and valley. It was so pristine and we were the only people on the river! In addition to the amazing greenery and foliage, we also saw fox, pheasant, turtles and many ducks and cranes. The rapids were exciting and fun, the water was very refreshing - A wonderful way to explore the beauty of this area away from the crowds and a must do on your trip to the greater Kyoto area. We also enjoyed the onsen at the end of our rafting trip, it was a wonderful way to end our morning and the cool waters of the river with a warm and relaxing soak. Highly recommend the rafting and onsen package! Their location is easy to locate from the train station and they take care of every detail, ensuring that all of our belongings are there for you at the end of the rafting trip. Truly the highlight of our Japan trip- the team at Hozugawa Rafting will...

The white water rafting trip was AMAZING! What a fantastic experience! There were so many great parts about this experience. First the train trip out to the start point is really easy and lovely. Great scenery along the route and so easy to understand the route and where to go. The team at Hozugawa were fantastic! They made sure we were kitted out, understood all the safety precautions, taught us how to row and sit in the boat. Everyone got a chance to sit at the front of the boat for some rapids. The guide spoke English so well and he had so many interesting stories about the history of the area, the wildlife and the plants. It was a very nice break to get out of the city and see a different side of Japan. The rapids were relative mild, so definitely beginner and kid friendly. We saw comments and turtles, we jumped off a giant rock, floated around in the beautiful river and enjoyed some spectacular views! We met some lovely people from Australia. Yes everyone in the boat was a tourist, but why would a local be taking a river tour anyway? If you enjoy nature and are looking for a unique experience, you will love the...

An amazing rafting experience – so much fun!

We had such a great time rafting! It was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. We laughed a lot during the whole adventure, and it was both exciting and fun from start to finish.

Our instructor was fantastic – very kind, professional, and really pleasant to talk to. He also shared a lot of interesting facts about the surrounding area and nature, which made the experience even more special. We had some great conversations with him along the way.

The rafting itself was so much fun – the perfect balance of action and nature. It was thrilling, but also gave us the chance to really enjoy the beautiful scenery around us. You’re not just sitting in a boat passively – you’re paddling, working together, and really part of the experience.

We truly enjoyed every moment and would absolutely recommend this to anyone. It’s a great combination of nature, fun, and physical activity. Don’t miss this if you...
