I had no idea that the Sea of Japan side has good soil for wine growing and learned many fun facts from a short conversation with the owner. I did a wine tasting of the two wines of the day and had a fun and unexpected experience on my brief tour to the lovely, charming Kurayoshi Winery, which is situated on the main drag in town. Definitely worth a drop by just to learn more about wine making in the area and for a little taste.

500円でワイナリーの代表的な3種類のワインをテイスティング出来る。全てのブドウが自家栽培。日本海側のテロワールを感じるミネラルが特徴的で心地良い。長野、甲府、北海道等々そこそこの数のワイナリーを巡った中でも、日本食に合うワインだと思う。親切でダンディなオーナーの話はとても興味深く、楽しいひと時だった。観光ワイナリーでは無いのでカフェ代わりの訪問はしない方が良い。その意味が理解出来る方には人に是非お勧め。
