Cafe Mother — Restaurant in Kurayoshi

Films, and the memorable moments in them, are the major inspirations for almost every aspect of the experience at Cafe Mother. Movies are often playing throughout the cafe, and though you can't typically hear the audio, the eclectic music selection playing throughout the store's sound system more than makes up for it. The real stars are the incredible coffee, cocktails, and food anyway.

Though an overall Italian theme runs throughout much of the menu, you'll still be able to get some classics like (incredible) waffle fries, a bowl of taco rice, or a roast beef bowl. Many of the cocktails have a strong concept; in particular the Apollo which attempts to capture the excitement of an Apollo capsule splashing down into the ocean. Despite being visually striking, with chocolate capsules floating up and down in a bubbly blue cocktail, and served with a disc light to illuminate the drink from below, the overly salted rim and bitter aftertaste won't have anyone clamoring for a second round. Regardless, it's a cocktail everyone should order at least once for its spectacle and a truly commendable concept.

Expect to spend, give or take, ¥2000 if you order an appetizer, cocktail (and be prepared to order a cocktail as water isn't always served. Standard in some smaller restaurants in Italy,) and main dish per person.

The service time depends entirely on how busy the shop gets, as it's really only run by one man. So expect to wait a while if the cafe fills up. Cafe Mother is a beautiful cafe though, so if you had to wait somewhere for good food, you couldn't do much better for it's...

First time visit while touring in Tottori in Sep, after Onsen at ManRuiRou Hotel. Searched this cafe via Google Map. Foods/Drinks are delicious w/fresh ingredients and presented perfectly! Looks great and over our expectations! Try the delicious panini bread sandwiches, gourmet coffees and chai lattes. Cafe Mother has a unique atmosphere. With a French Movie Theater type theme, this cafe, restaurant and bar is a great location for late nights out on town, or a quiet afternoon study.
